Sabres Rookie League 2010

In 2010 there are now two exciting opportunities to learn to play inline hockey through the  beginners' league run  by volunteers from the Sabres Inline Hockey Club.

1. At Skateland in Mt. Wellington  Richie Hopkinson and Alex Luton will be your coaches.  All primary and intermediate age children (Boys and girls) are welcome. Players need their own skates (although they can be hired at the venue for $2). All other equipment is provided. Come along and find out what it's all about. You will join a group of about 20 who are aged from 6 years old to 14 years. Each week you will begin the session with some basic skating skills, learning about stopping, pivots, backward skating, puck handling, passing and shooting. Then you will get into a team and play some inline hockey for real. The evening always finished with some fun games like grenades or bull rush. We love to have our Rookies later join Sabres Inline Hockey Club and play inline hockey for real! Tim and Vicki are always willing to tell you more about the sport and the club which is based in Papatoetoe.

2. EXCITING NEW TRAINING OPPORTUNITY FOR ROOKIES A new venture has begun at Papatoetoe Roller Sports Club for new players (boys and girls). There is now another Sabres Rookie training opportunity on a Monday evening.  Raniera Harris, an experienced inline hockey player will coach you. Bring along your own skates and a bike helmet and join in this exciting game.
